Mrs. Leyla Wilcox

My name is Leyla Wilcox and I am the Elementary Computer Lab teacher here at FIVE. This will be my 13th year working in education and my 10th year at Lexington/Richland School District 5. Prior to joining the amazing team at FIVE , I spent 3 years teaching private pre-k, 8 years as an Instructional Assistant to the 4k program at Dutch Fork Elementary, and the last 2 years as the Assistant Computer Lab Manager at HE Corley Elementary. I have a Bachelor’s degree in English Communications from the College of Charleston.

I am originally from Atlanta, GA, but have lived here in Columbia for almost 19 years. I currently live in Irmo with my husband and two boys, one of which just graduated from D5 last spring, and the other starts high school this fall. 

I enjoy just about any outdoor activity, especially if water is involved, and traveling. Both of my children played rugby, and are avid skateboarders, so I have spent many weekends traveling around the state in a van filled with stinky rugby players and enjoyed many hot summer days watching them sharpen their skills at the Owens Field skatepark.

I am so excited to join such an amazing group of teachers and staff, and absolutely thrilled to meet my new students in FIVE and to reconnect with many of my old students again!
